Get Set for Community Action
In the run up to the 2016 Games in Rio, Davenant was approached to launch a new Programme across all schools in the United Kingdom called – Get Set for Community Action. The Programme aims to strengthen relationships between young people and their local communities through the Olympic Values (friendship, excellence and respect and the Paralympic Values (courage, determination, equality, and inspiration).
Alongside launching the Programme, Davenant was also chosen as a ‘Champion School’ and mentored and shared good practice across a number of schools in various London Boroughs and Essex.
Over the course of the Programme 500 teams of students comprising some 18,000 Action Leads (students) established 500 nationwide projects that saw 50,000 community members benefit from the programme.
Davenant still participates in Get Set for Community and runs a variety of Projects throughout the year. We have developed our relationships with local primary schools further as well as developing new relationships with local community groups i.e. 7th Epping Forest Beavers, Cubs and Scout Groups.
