Ofsted
We received the following communication from Ofsted in July 2010:
We were inspected by Ofsted in October 2006.
This resulted in a report that you can access on the main Ofsted site by clicking on the following link:
As you will see, the inspection found us to be “Outstanding”. This is the highest category that can be used by Ofsted and we were recognised as achieving Grade 1 (ie Outstanding) in each of the main categories. These are as follows:
Overall Effectiveness
Achievement and Standards
Personal Development and Well-Being
Quality of Provision
Leadership and Management
The inspectors wrote a letter to each student in the school. A section of this letter is quoted below:
“Your personal development and well-being is also outstanding and in making this judgement we were strongly impressed by the positive atmosphere in lessons and around the school, as well as the extent to which you take advantage of the large range of extra-curricular activities that are on offer to you. All this, as you made very clear to us, are strengths of the school.”
Everybody connected to Davenant recognises this description of our school. Everbody is committed to maintaining it and making it even better!
“This is a very good school. Pupils make good progress and achieve high standards in examinations as a result of very effective teaching…”
“The school’s very positive ethos encourages pupils to take a very active role in the school’s life. They take responsibility willingly and grow in maturity ……”
“The curriculum is broad and balanced and meets the needs of all students well……provision for moral and social development is excellent (while) cultural and spiritual development is very strong.”
“Pupils behave very well in lessons and are polite and helpful around the school”
