Jump Rope for Heart
Each year at Davenant, the PE Department organise the Jump Rope For Heart Activity for all Year 7 students to participate in.
Jump Rope For Heart is the British Heart Foundation’s popular sponsored skipping challenge which raises money both for the nation’s heart charity and your school. It takes its name from the American term for skipping – Jump Rope.
At Davenant, we believe that Jump Rope For Heart encourages healthy habits and shows children that keeping fit can be fun. Experts agree that learning how to care for your heart from an early age is the best way to prevent future heart problems.
During the last school year, 1764 schools took part in this scheme. This effort raised £ 942,000 for the British Heart Foundation life saving work, and participating schools have benefited to the tune of £ 314,000.
Over the last few years, our Year 7 students have raised the following amounts for the British Heart Foundation:
- 2005 - 06 Academic Year £ 661.79
2004 - 05 Academic Year £ 591.26
2003 - 04 Academic Year £ 864.95
We are pleased to announce that this year's Jump Rope for Heart raised a total of £1014.80 - Well done to all the Year 7 students who took part and the PE Staff who worked hard to make it a great success. Click on the picture below to see our Certificate!
