DAVENANT FOUNDATION SCHOOL YEAR 13 GRADUATION EVENING

DAVENANT FOUNDATION SCHOOL YEAR 13 GRADUATION EVENING

Last year’s Sixth Form students gathered at Davenant Foundation School in order to collect certificates and awards upon their graduation from the school. The Headteacher, governors, staff and parents joined with the students to celebrate the summer’s outstanding A level results and to congratulate the students on all the other achievements of 2008-2009.

Twenty two students received the Governors Medal for Scholarship after achieving at least three Grade As in their examinations. Other awards were presented that included recognition of achievement in individual subjects, sport, music and the arts. A number of trophies were also given to students who had made special contributions to the community.

The Guest of Honour was former Davenant student, Etholle George, who now is a regular presenter on BBC Essex and on BBC Look East. Ms George compared the changes that had happened at the school since her time as a student in the 1980s with those things that had remained the same. She recalled the perseverance and determination that she had required to establish herself in the media and encouraged the students to approach their future in the same way.

Exam Results 2009

Categories: School News

Our students produced another set of excellent examination results in 2009. The full table of results can be seen on our “Exam Results” page.

The Advanced Level results brought a highest ever proportion of A and B grades with twenty two students achieving at least three A Grades. Congratulations must go to the three students who gained places at Cambridge University but we were delighted that nearly all the 160 students gained grades that allow them to progress to their chosen destinations.

At GCSE, 85% of the students achieved 5+ A*-C grades with 78% achieving this with Maths and English included. There was a record number of A*/A grades with most students able to move on to their preferred A Level subjects.
