Careers Programme

We ensure that our students have a personal development programme that equips them for moving into the appropriate further education, apprenticeship or workplace. This starts as soon as they arrive at school in Year 7 and builds significantly through Years 8 -13.

Our careers programme is built around the Gatsby Benchmarks:

  1. A stable careers programme
  2. Learning from career and labour market information
  3. Addressing the needs of each student
  4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
  5. Encounters with employers and employees
  6. Experiences of workplaces
  7. Encounters with further and higher education
  8. Personal guidance

Careers in the curriculum is based on the CDI Framework which is designed to help students as follows

  1. Grow throughout life by learning and reflecting on yourself, your background and your strengths
  2. Explore possibilities open to you and learn about recruitment processes and the culture of different workplaces
  3. Manage your career by actively making the most of opportunities and learning from setbacks
  4. Create opportunities by being proactive and building positive relationships with others
  5. Balance life and work with your wellbeing, other interests and involvement with your family and community
  6. See the big picture by paying attention to how the economy, politics and society connect with your own life and career

The programme is reviewed annually with the next review of the policy and programme due in June 2022.

Below is the programme of activities by key stage:
